Interceptor

Alarms

GPT are experts in supplying, installing, and maintaining reliable interceptor alarm systems. These tailored solutions offer real-time alerts to ensure environmental compliance and prevent costly incidents.

Interceptor Alarms

To monitor critical levels within your interceptor between routine inspections, there are various alarm devices available which detect and alert if high oil and silt levels are reached. These systems provide early warnings, helping prevent environmental incidents and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Interceptor alarms can range from basic local systems, such as beacons, to more advanced systems that can be integrated within your Building Management Systems (BMS) or online portals. These advanced systems offer real-time monitoring of oil and sludge levels, enabling proactive maintenance and fast response when calibrated levels are exceeded.

Oil interceptors are usually accompanied by a basic alarm in line with the requirements of BS EN 858-1:2002, however in our experience it is often the case that during the install the alarms are not properly fitted, and in some cases not installed at all. This can create a false sense of security and lead to costly incidents. With decades of experience in interceptor maintenance, GPT has earned a trusted reputation for delivering reliable alarm solutions through expert supply, installation, servicing, and repair.

We are proud to be alarm manufacturer Labkotec’s licenced distributor, preferred installer and maintenance provider throughout the UK. We are also experts in working with all other major interceptor alarm manufacturers, including Darcy, Aquasentry, Pyramid and Kingspan.

Our Alarm Services

Specification & Installation

Whether you’re retrofitting an alarm to an existing system or replacing a non-functioning or incorrectly installed unit, GPT can provide a tailored solution. We install both basic and smart alarms, with options to integrate with BMS systems or web-based portals. Alarms can be powered by mains or solar, and we carry out any necessary civils works to install supporting infrastructure.

Our installation service ensures all alarms are fully functional, accurately calibrated, and correctly integrated into your site’s wider drainage or compliance systems.

Servicing & Maintenance

Interceptor alarm maintenance can be carried out as a standalone service or included in our 6-monthly inspection audits. During servicing, our qualified technicians assess the full functionality of the alarm. If any faults are identified, we aim to complete repairs during the same visit whenever possible to reduce costs. In cases requiring specialist parts or extended diagnostics, we’ll arrange a follow-up visit.

Repair & Replacement

In the event of a malfunctioning alarm, GPT can diagnose and repair most issues. For older or basic systems, replacement may be more cost-effective than repair - we will always offer clear, practical advice on the best option to restore functionality and ensure compliance.

Oil Interceptor alarms are designed to monitor liquid and silt levels within separators. They monitor the oil layer within the system, the water level, and the sludge/silt within the tank. There are a range of options, with various specifications of each model, our most popular models are:

idOil-30 (comprehensive)

  • Up to 3 idOil sensors of any type can be connected
  • Available with GSM modem sending an SMS to your mobile if an alarm is triggered
  • Easy commissioning, flexible configuration locally via WLAN, alarm logging

OMS-1 (basic)

  • Maximum of 1 sensor to measure high oil level
  • Remote monitoring capability
  • Especially suitable for for small Class 2 separators

Methods of Alert

GSM Integrated Modem

The most comprehensive method of alert is the cellular alarm. When triggered, the system will send a notification to you by email, text and/or phone call, meaning you can act effectively and send experts to inspect promptly.

These are ideal for sites which are largely unmonitored in between services or audits, providing a remote server-based dashboard showing alarm location and real-time interceptor levels.

Beacon

Beacons can be fitted to any alarm configuration. When the critical level is reached, the system will enter alarm mode and start flashing.

The placement of the alarm must be considered carefully, as the beacon must be installed in a location where it is easily visible.

They can be fitted with an ‘emergency’ GSM modem which will send a text alert if the battery power is running very low, and the beacon is going to stop flashing.
