Hazardous Waste Management

Hazardous waste is something which is being increasingly regulated and not following correct disposal regulations can come at a very large cost. Holding, producing or removing hazardous waste without a licence can earn you a £5000 fine. For dumping hazardous waste the fine is much larger and in a June 2013 Wal-Mart were fined $82,000,000 for illegally dumping hazardous waste.

We have experienced staff who are able to undertake the correct characterisation, classification and disposal of hazardous waste. Our skill base includes staff with Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) qualifications at the highest levels. We are also an upper tier carrier broker dealer meaning we can remove and dispose of all hazardous waste. Following our waste disposal you will be provided with a Hazardous Waste Consignment Note to verify the waste has been disposed of correctly.

Having a thorough understanding of the complex issues surrounding waste classification and many years’ experience of negotiating with an array of treatment and transfer facilities, has allowed us to source low cost disposal options for our clients, providing both significant savings and improved environmental performance. Our hazardous waste services include:

  • Hazardous substance spill clean up
  • Hazardous Waste characterisation and classification
  • Hazardous waste collection and disposal
  • WAC reporting
  • Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) waste collection and disposal

Government advice - Hazardous waste

"You must follow these steps in England if your business:

  • produces hazardous waste
  • holds or stores hazardous waste
  • has hazardous waste removed from its premises
  1. Classify your waste to check if it’s hazardous.
  2. Separate and store hazardous waste safely.
  3. Use authorised businesses to collect, recycle or dispose of your hazardous waste – check that waste carriers are registered and waste sites have environmental permits.
  4. Fill in the parts of the consignment note that apply to you – keep one copy and give 2 copies to the carrier collecting your waste.
  5. Keep records (known as a ‘register’) for 3 years at the premises that produced or stored the waste."
